Over the last year the school has been in the fortunate position to have been awarded £10,000 from the Big Lottery Fund and the Drumchapel/Anniesland Area Partnership to invest in our PE provision, with a particular focus on Gymnastics.
Our Active Schools coordinator, Fiona Kirk-Friel, helped us to make a bid for a project we called ‘Spinning Antonine’. We have spent the money on upgrading our equipment, most of which was inherited from the old Drumry and Lochgoin Primary Schools. One major outlay has been on our new AirTrack. This is a fantastic piece of kit which, when fully inflated, stretches across half of our gym hall. This will help all children in the school to develop their confidence and ability in Gymnastics. In order to help us we have enlisted the help of Gina Duffy and her coaching team from Drumchapel Sports Centre. Their expertise is being used to provide every class with three sessions. These classes will help the children, and the staff, to fulfil the potential of this fantastic resource. The sessions are underway now and will be on-going until September.
We look forward to letting you know how we spend the rest of the money and hopefully you will see more confident and able children bouncing, tumbling and spinning around!
